The Australian Open Bowls competition moved to the Gold Coast in 2015 and has grown in popularity. The event is now known as the World’s Biggest Bowls Festival.
Aside from being the biggest bowls event, the competition is also the world’s richest bowling event. The prize money for the 13 disciplines of the Australian Open Bowls competition totals approximately $255,000.
There are no qualifying rounds or seeding of competitors in these competitions. Sectional matches will be held, with random draws and qualifying bowlers going to knockout rounds. There will be about 2,000 bowlers in attendance.
The Australian Open Bowls competition will return from June 11 to 24 after a successful event in 2021. Broadbeach Bowls Club will host the competition. Many of the largest bowls manufacturers and several Bowls Australia’s valued partners will have shops there. Between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on any day during the Australian Open!
